On Xconomy: The Startup Whisperer’s 2010 Technology Predictions

Now that I’ve posted my results for 2009, here are my predictions for 2010.

Matt Hulett is Chief Revenue Officer for RealGames North America, a division of RealNetworks. Previously he was Chairman and CEO of Seattle-based Mpire.
Read Hulett's predications via xconomy.com

The M&A prediction is hopeful, but cautious (as the author points out himself - he "whiffed" on his 2009 predictions).

Google ramping up further in the enterprise space is not surprising...however, while there are so many reasons to go cloud, it will be interesting to see how many at the CIO level embrace it.

A Year-End Commitment: Engage Yourself - Susan Cramm - Harvard Business Review

We are selfish creatures. At our best, we reach out to others in their time of need, sometimes at great personal cost to ourselves. At our worst, we spend our time and money on wants, not needs, oblivious to our good fortune relative to others.

I'm making the commitment...are you?

Hinchcliffe gives us an answer around what will power next-generation businesses

Really like the frame of reference around "we now live in an age where things that were historically scarce are now available abundantly — at least on the network — in seemingly unlimited quantities....and what was formerly abundant is now scarce."

On Motivation from Harvard Business Review

When the economy is slow and unemployment rates are high, it's easy to think your employees will happily stay put in their current jobs. But that's a dangerous assumption. Research shows that voluntary turnover rates increase as consumer confidence builds. This means, as a manager, you need to figure out ways to retain your top performers, even if your company is still in a slump.

Read the whole post via blogs.harvardbusiness.org

As more companies look for ways to retain their star performers...collaboration, empowerment, and purpose will play a larger role. It's no surprise that enterprise social platforms are trending as they facilitate the behavior that supports a lot of these ideas around motivation.

Twitter Brings Us a Feature Just for Business - From the Twitter blog

The feature we are beta testing is called 'Contributors' – it enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account. The feature appends the contributor's username to the tweet byline, making the business to consumer communication more personal; e.g. if @Twitter invites @Biz to tweet on its behalf, then a tweet from @Twitter would include @Biz in the byline so that users know more about the real people behind organizations.

get all the details via blog.twitter.com

CoTweet.com already does this but with Twitter providing the API support behind it, let's hope we see even more transparency behind those who tweet.

Those who know me, know that I'm not a huge fan of brands who don't have a person behind the tweets. Don't get me wrong, I know sometimes there are a few people tweeting on behalf of one account.

This should at least save some characters...Twitter profiles like do a good job of using shorthand to remain authentic, however, as we all know anything that promotes transparency AND give us more precious characters to work with is ideal.

ZDNet's Leggio introduce us to an App that Promises to Filter Twitter Noise

An app that filters Twitter noise? It's about time

Posted by Jennifer Leggio @ 8:00 am

Ever wish that Twitter was smart enough to tell you which tweets included content that was of most interest to you?

Read Jennifer's whole post via blogs.zdnet.com

Will definitely be checking this application out. I know a lot of companies are still shying away from engaging on Twitter because of their fear of all the "noise". This looks like an app that could take care of that. Wondering if there's a web version too so that I could use this at my desk as well.

Love how she compares it to Pandora for tweets.
